This five-day program is designed for individuals who are already credentialed as an IBCLC or have attended a comprehensive professional breastfeeding education program within the past 3-5 years. These individuals should have a strong background in working clinically with breastfeeding families. A teaching background is also desireable.

Symposium schedule
9 – 9:30 a.m.: Registration and welcome
9:30 – 10:30 a.m.: “The Control and Production of Human Milk”
10:30 – 10:45 a.m.: Break
10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.: “Using Medications in Breastfeeding Mothers”
12:15 – 1:30 p.m.: Lunch on your own

This two-day conference features Vergie Hughes, RN, MS, IBCLC, FILCA who will speak on the following topics:
1. Identifying breasts and nipples that will need intervention
2. Demonstrating and assisting mothers in correct positioning
3. Assisting with latch-on techniques
4. Assessing stages of readiness to feed
5. Assessing milk transfer from mother to baby
