The Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments and the WIC Program are hosting a Conference to promote Breastfeeding. This Conference will be held at the Abbey in Canon City on April 15, 2010.

Featured speakers include:
Marianne Neifert, M.D. (Dr. Mom) and Maya Bunik, M.D., MSPH.

Dr. Neifert, a pediatrician who is known nationally as Dr. Mom, is an acclaimed motivational speaker who addresses topics on life balance, positive parenting, and breastfeeding. She has authored the newly released Great Expectations: The Essential Guide to Breastfeeding.

The Conference is on April 15, 2010, registration is at 8:00 am. Conference starts at 8:30 am and goes to 2:30 pm.

The goal of this one day program is to address important and challenging areas cultural health disparity of breastfeeding practice for all women and their babies at birth. We wish to improve health outcomes by bringing together both the health professionals and the community they serve. Upon completion the experienced professional will be better able to:
• More fully understand the health disparities in our local areas
