Portland Community College CLIMB Center offers a free information session for students who would like to learn more about how to become a lactation consultant, and the Portland Community College Lactation Management Course. The course instructor will present information and answer questions about the Lactation Management course and becoming a lactation consultant. No registration required. Have you ever wanted to start a career in the Perinatal Field or gain for skills and knowledge to help your community with lactation issues? Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association is the largest childbirth education organization in the world, and the CLE training is coming to your city!

The CAPPA CLE Training gives a good overview of lactation including:
*Goals/Roles of the Lactation Educator
*Historical views of Breastfeeding
*Anatomical, Physiological & Hormonal Aspects of Lactation
*Latch and Positioning
*Maintaining Milk Supply
*Breastfeeding Counseling

Portland Community College CLIMB Center will offer the Lactation Management 1 course in the Fall 2013 term. This is the first 45 hrs of the full 90 hr course. The second 45 hrs of the course will be offered in the Winter 2014 term.

This course is designed for health care professionals who want to improve their lactation skills, or for students who want to become lactation consultants. Taking both the Fall 2013 and Winter2014 term courses meets the lactation training requirement needed for the IBLCE Lactation Consultant exam.
