The Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments and the WIC Program are hosting a Conference to promote Breastfeeding. This Conference will be held at the Abbey in Canon City on April 15, 2010.
Featured speakers include:
Marianne Neifert, M.D. (Dr. Mom) and Maya Bunik, M.D., MSPH.
Dr. Neifert, a pediatrician who is known nationally as Dr. Mom, is an acclaimed motivational speaker who addresses topics on life balance, positive parenting, and breastfeeding. She has authored the newly released Great Expectations: The Essential Guide to Breastfeeding.
Dr. Bunik is a pediatrician who is currently the Medical Director of the Child Health Clinic, at Children’s Hospital in Denver. She is a well known and respected lecturer on breastfeeding issues and has authored a number of publications and studies on the positive influence of breastfeeding on the health and lives of our children.
There will be other speakers at this Conference as we pull Fremont County together in a common vision of giving our newborns strong starts in life! START STRONG!
Target Audience: This Conference has been developed for all women’s health professionals who are giving breastfeeding advice to new mothers. This includes physicians, inpatient and outpatient nursing/clinical staff, lactation consultants, midwives, health educators, community staffs who work with pregnant women, breastfeeding support volunteers, and new mothers.
